In this paper i was trying to argue that the conversation revolving grammar is not weather we should teach it or not, it is when, where, and how we use and teach grammar. I used my sources to help provide me with evidence and room to argue my point. I need to use more of my sources. I used my sources as argument and counterargument. I think that my organization is working well but i may need to break it up a little bit more. I need to incorporate more of my sources but there was just not enough time to find places to fill and argue which i will be working on this week. I want my peer editor to see what's choppy in my sentence and paragraph structure and obviously anything that doesn't make sense. I would appreciate feedback on organization and the ordering of my topics if there is a better way to set up my arguments. If given more time, i would understand the conversation better to find a more in depth gap
In her paper The Importance of Grammar, Molly argues the need to change how and when we teach grammar to the student of today and the future. She also gives background information and examples of the conversation revolving around grammar. I liked her example from Beason at the end of the third page saying; “Errors must be defined not just as textual features breaking handbook rules but as mental events taking place outside the immediate text”. It helps support the idea in her paper that the main ideas are just as important if not more important than the little things such as grammar, especially at such a young age. So instead of being motivated to learn and write their ideas down, children are reprimanded for using improper grammar, even though these concepts are very difficult even for more experienced students. I like the idea behind your paper and I feel that you were able to portray it to the reader very well. Other than a few small things that I noticed and marked in your paper, I think you did a great job.
